If the trailer becomes uncoupled from the towing vehicle while on the road, the breakaway cable plays a pivotal role and activates the trailer's brakes immediately, helping to prevent accidents and the trailer from running loose.
In this situation, the breakaway cable detaches from the tow ball, effectively severing the connection between the towing vehicle and the trailer.
